Sammy Kershaw to perform at fair

Sammy Kershaw will be coming to the Harney County Fair, Rodeo, and Racemeet. Kershaw will play at 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9. He will be preceded by a warm-up band, staring at 9 p.m.

There will be three sections of seating in the grandstands: general admission, a closer reserved section, and a “mosh pit” next to the stage. There will be 1,250 general admission seats, which will come with a fair ticket; 300 reserved section seats sold on a first-come, first-serve basis; and 100 tickets will be sold for the “mosh pit.” The reserved seats will be sold for $25, and the “mosh pit” tickets will be sold for $35.

To accommodate the concert, the livestock auction has been moved to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Last year, Kershaw performed at the Grant County Fair in John Day. Harney County Judge Pete Runnels and Interim Fair Manager Rick Paul were encouraged by the success that he had there, and are hoping it can be replicated in Burns.

The fair board is currently putting together sponsorship packages for local businesses. These packages will be made available in the months leading up to the concert.

Kershaw has been a staple of country music since 1991. He has had more than 25 singles enter the Top 40 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, including the number one hit “She Don’t Know She’s Beautiful” and 10 more Top 10 hits: “Cadillac Style”, “Anywhere but Here”, “Haunted Heart”, “Queen of My Double-Wide Trailer”, “I Can’t Reach Her Anymore”, “National Working Woman’s Holiday”, “Third Rate Romance”, “Meant to Be”, “Vidalia”, and “Love of My Life.”
