Crane downs Adrian, Jordan Valley, now 7-4

The Crane boys basketball team picked up victories over Adrian and Jordan Valley Jan. 9-10 to improve to 7-4 on the season.

On Thursday, Jan. 9, Chase Joyce scored 20 points to lead the Mustangs to a 56-47 win over Adrian in non-conference play.

Crane led 15-10 at the end of the first quarter, only to see Adrian whittle the lead down to one, 26-25, at halftime.

The Mustangs picked up the pace in the third period, outscoring the Antelopes 11-6, and then closing out the game with a 19-16 run.

Peyton Krueger and Ty Taylor each had 11 for Crane, Nick Joyce, Jesse Roozeboom, and Mitch Clark added four apiece, and Benjamin Miller finished with two.

The following night, Crane opened up High Desert League play with a 47-45 win over Jordan Valley.

Crane led by two after the first quarter, 11-9, and went up 24-18 at the break. Jordan Valley outscored Crane 12-9 in the third quarter, setting up a fourth-quarter battle.

Crane was up to the task, holding on for the two-point victory.

Roozeboom dropped in 14 points for Crane, C. Joyce and Clark each had 11, Miller six, and Krueger five.

The Mustangs’ next two games are on the road, at Perrydale Jan. 17 and at Mohawk Jan. 18, before returning home to host South Wasco on Monday, Jan. 20.
