ODOT takes first in Light Parade

On Saturday, Dec. 9, the city of Burns and Harney County Chamber of Commerce held the annual Christmas Jamboree. The day was filled with a lot of activities from face painting, to crafts, to coloring, to cookie decorating, to an ugly sweater contest. To wrap up the day, Umpqua Bank sponsored a Light Parade down Broadway that ended at the Christmas tree and bonfire next to Buzz’N. Umpqua Bank donated a total of $150 in prize money. The $10 third-place prize went to Burns Fire Department, the $40 second-place prize went to Operation Christmas, and the $100 first-place prize went to ODOT Harney County Division.

ODOT decided to give the money back to the community by purchasing 25 large jars of peanut butter from Grocery Outlet for the Elks Christmas baskets.

The city of Burns and Harney County Chamber would like to thank everyone for all of the spirit that they put into helping during this holiday season. They are looking forward to another prosperous year.
