BHS and CUHS track teams compete in Baker

The Burns and Crane track teams competed in the Baker Invite on Friday, May 5, in their final tune-up for the district meets.

The Burns boys team placed second and the Crane boys team finished seventh in the 25-team meet. La Grande won the boys team title with 144.5 points, followed by Burns with 67, Weston-McEwen 65, Ontario 50, Union 31, Nyssa 30.5, Crane 30, Riverside 28, Baker 25, Adrian 25, Harper 21, Elgin 19, Emmett, Idaho 18, Vale 16, Powder Valley 14.5, Mac-Hi 14, Joseph 13, Pilot Rock 11, Enterprise 11, Griswold 11, Cove 6, Imbler 6, Pine Eagle 3, Grant Union 2.5, Monument 1.

On the girls side, Burns  placed fifth out of 23 teams, while the Crane girls failed to score.

Nyssa took first with 102 points, followed by Grant Union with 87.5, Pilot Rock 58, La Grande 50, Burns 47, Enterprise 39.6, Adrian 31.93, Joseph 31.2, Ontario 28, Weston-McEwen 26, Union 25, Vale 21.5, Imbler 18, Monument 18, Griswold 17, Elgin 14, Riverside 14, Cove 11.33, Baker 10.6, Mac-Hi 6, Powder Valley 3.33, Emmett 2, Crane 0.

The Hilanders travel to Nyssa for the Eastern Oregon League District Meet on Friday and Saturday, May12-13. The meet begins at 2 p.m. on Friday and at 1 p.m. Saturday.

The Crane Mustangs return to Baker City on Friday, May 12, for the District 4 Meet. Field events begin at 10 a.m.
