Mustangs wrestle at state

The Crane Mustangs wrestling season came to an end at the OSAA 2A/1A State Wrestling Tournament, held at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland. The Mustangs’ William Johnson and Sam Williams both placed third in their weight classes, 145 lbs and 285 lbs., respectively. Elijah Epling placed fourth at 152 lbs.

Crane placed fifth in the team standings with 38 points. Culver took home the team title, scoring 202.5 points. Lowell was second with 150.5 points, followed by Central Linn with 60, Neah-Kah-Nie 46, and Crane.

Individual results for Crane are as follows:

138 — Cache Campbell lost by fall (2:37); won by decision, 11-9; lost by fall (2:00).

145 — Johnson won by decision, 11-4; lost by tech fall, 17-2; won by fall (4:01); won by fall (2:30). Placed third.

152 — Epling won by decision, 5-3; lost by major decision, 16-5; won by injury default; lost by decision, 7-0. Placed fourth.

285 — Williams won by fall (0:48); lost by decision, 3-2; won by fall (1:40); won by decision, 5-0. Placed third.
