Crane boys top Adrian, fall to Jordan Valley in HDL

The Crane boys basketball team split their final two games of the regular season, finishing third in the High Desert League with a 9-3 record, and 16-8 overall.

On Friday, Feb. 12, William Clark scored 20 points and Jack Bentz added 13 to lead Crane to a 55-43 win over Adrian.

The Mustangs led 14-6 at the end of the first period, and extended their lead to 33-19 by halftime.

Adrian then outscored Crane 12-5 in the third quarter to cut the lead to seven headed into the final eight minutes of play.

The Antelopes opened up the final period with a 3-pointer, and Crane answered with buckets by Wyatt Starbuck and Bentz. Adrian closed the gap to 45-42 midway through the quarter, but Crane closed out the game with a 10-1 run.

Crane played their final game of the regular season at Jordan Valley and came up short in a 48-36 loss.

Crane now heads into the High Desert League District Tournament to be played Feb. 18-20 in John Day. The Mustangs will open the tournament at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, when they play Harper/Huntington.
