Helen Marie Clemens McCart 1920 – 2021 Obituary April 7, 2021April 7, 20210 Helen Marie Clemens McCart passed away at the age of 100 on March 25, 2021 at Aspen Living Center. She was born Sept. 9, 1920 to Glen and Beulah Clemens of Burns. Her early years were spent on the Clemens Poison Creek Ranch. She attended Poison Creek School with her brother Darrell, and graduated from Boise High in 1937. She had the honor of being chosen Harney County Princess for the County Fair in 1937. Helen married Paul B. McCart on Dec. 31, 1941. Paul and Helen McCart spent the war years in Portland and moved back to Burns in 1954. Paul and Helen traveled extensively throughout the United States, covering all 50 states. One of her most celebrated moments in Helen’s life was the 50th wedding anniversary that Halen and Paul celebrated in 1991. Sadly, her beloved Paul passed away in 1992. Helen continued to stay busy with her family and many friends through the years. Her hobbies included fishing, crafting, playing cards, and she was very active at the Harney County Senior Center and Harney County Historical Society. She traveled to Europe and also enjoyed several cruises. Helen had the opportunity to travel to Africa on a safari at the young age of 90! Helen is survived by her two sons, Michael D. McCart and his wife carol, and Pat L. McCart and his wife Margaret. She has four grandkids and 11 great-grandchildren. Any donation in her memory goes to Harney County Historical Society or Harney County Senior Center. A funeral service will be held on Wed. April 14, 2021, at the Pioneer Presbyterian Church at 10:00 a.m.
