Herbert Roger Einstein, “The Captain”, passed away Aug. 20.

Herbert was born Jan. 18, 1939, in Highland Park, Mich. Later in life, he retired from the U.S. Navy. He has no known family, but is survived by his two dogs, Sissy and LBD.

The Captain moved to Burns about eight years ago to lead a more simple life.  As he said, “Living in Burns has made me a rich man.” It wasn’t clear  what he meant until he passed. Burns welcomed The Captain into their lives.

We would like to say thank you to all of Burns for making the last years of The Captain’s time on earth the best of his 81 years of life.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Burns Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oregon Humane Society.
