Della Myrtle Dunten 1933-2020 Obituary February 26, 2020February 26, 20200 Della Myrtle Dunten passed away peacefully Feb. 18 at her home in Burns. Della Myrtle was born June 16, 1933, in Burns to Millard and Claire Newell, and later joined by her younger sister, Darlene Witzel (Fred). Della Myrtle married Floyd Dunten Feb. 6, 1950.They made their home in Drewsey, where they raised their children and ranched until 1995 when Floyd passed away. Della Myrtle moved to Burns in 2013 Della Myrtle enjoyed fishing, all crafts, and volunteering at the Harney County Fair, which she did for many years. She enjoyed cutting and hauling winter firewood, and she would read any book she could get her hands on. Della Myrtle loved music and played the piano, violin and accordion. Della Myrtle was a member of the Drewsey Grange, Harney County Pamona Grange, Oregon State Grange, and the National Grange, and also a member of the Harney County Historical Society. Della Myrtle and Floyd had seven children, Sarah Tyler (Wes) of Burns, Sally DeFord of John Day, Shirley Beaubien (Greg) of Burns, Selena Westlake (Dave) of Prineville, Sandra Sheldon of Burns, Steven Dunten of Burns, and Sharon Dunten, who passed at birth. She had 15 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd; daughter, Sharon; and parents, Millard and Claire.
