Crane girls add two more wins, now 3-0

The Crane girls basketball team won both its games at the Alycia Jenkins Christmas Tournament held Dec. 13-14, at Crane Union High School. With the victories, the Mustangs are now 3-0 on the season.

Crane opened the tournament with a 54-35 victory over Nyssa. Kelsie Siegner finished with 21 points to lead the Mustangs to the win, with Riley Davis adding 10.

The Mustangs got off to a fast start, outscoring the Bulldogs 17-2 in the first quarter, and then leading 30-12 at halftime.

Nyssa cut the lead to 14 by the end of the third period, but Crane outscored the Bulldogs 15-11 over the final eight minutes for the win.

Dani Clark added nine points for Crane, Laurel Witzel and Shelie Doman six each, and Taelor Hammack two.

On the second day of the tournament, Crane played the Baker JV team and cruised to a 61-17 victory.

Crane led 21-2 after the first quarter, and extended its lead to 33-9 at the break. The Mustangs held Baker scoreless in the third quarter, and went into the final stanza with a 49-9 cushion before closing out the contest with a 12-8 run.

Siegner dropped in 19 points for Crane, and Davis finished with 16. Clark and Doman scored nine apiece, Witzel had six, and Hammack two.

Crane next competes in the Union Classic Tournament Dec. 19-21.
