Robert E. Harper 1930-2017 Obituary June 14, 2017June 16, 20170 Robert E. Harper passed away unexpectedly June 1. Bob was born March 22, 1930, in Jonesboro, Ark. His family moved to Canby in 1941, where he graduated from Canby Union High School. Bob met his wife, Norma Schoen, in high school, and they married on Jan.11, 1952, when Bob was home on leave from the Army. Bob, Norma and their two daughters moved to Bend in 1967, where he and his partner, Bob Krueger, opened the CED store. The “Two Bobs,” as they were known, later opened Harper-Krueger Electric, followed by ESCO. Bob loved nothing more than golfing, traveling the world, and spending time in their Palm Desert home with his beloved Norma. He enjoyed skiing with his daughters, hunting and fishing with his grandchildren, and attending the numerous sports and activities of his grandkids. He was an icon on Pilot Butte, where he ran two laps up and down each day, as well as an avid reader with a curiosity for everything. Eastern Oregon held a special place in his heart. Bob is survived by his wife, Norma; his daughters, Pamela (Steve) Halvorsen, and Allison (Steven) Zettle; grandchildren, Brannon, Madison, Lucas, Spenser, Ellie, and Jordan; and great-grandchildren, Odin and Wes Robert. Bob’s life will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, June 16, at the Pavillion at Tetherow in Bend.
