Jack Wright breaks single-game scoring record

BHS junior Jack Wright scored 42 points in their win against Ontario, breaking the BHS single-game school record of 38 that was held by David King since 2003.

The Hilanders defeated the Tigers on Wednesday, Jan. 29, in Ontario 83-31, behind Wright’s record-breaking night, he also finished with a double-double, grabbing 14 rebounds. Carsen Volle scored 17 points, grabbed five rebounds and had four assists. Coltin Miller scored eight points and had five assists.

The boys wrapped-up the weekend on Saturday, Feb. 1, with a trip to Umatilla, where the Vikings avenged an earlier season loss to the Hilanders. Burns was unable to overpower Umatilla and fell on the road 54-43.

Wright finished the game with another double-double, scoring 24 points while grabbing 13 rebounds. Volle scored five points and finished with 13 rebounds and four assists. Jaxon Hoyt scored six points and had one assist. Dylan Johnson scored two points, grabbed four rebounds and one steal. Coltin Miller scored four points to go along with three assists.

The loss moves the Hilanders into a second place tie with Umatilla in Eastern Oregon League at 4-2 and are 14-6 overall. The boys will finish off the regular season with four league games, all at home over the next two weeks.

They’ll host Mac-Hi (3-3, 8-12) on Friday, Feb. 7 with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m. and then Riverside (6-0, 17-4) on Saturday, Feb. 8, with tipoff set for 4:30 p.m.
