Chamber reveals parade judges and trophy

1st Place Trophy

The Harney County Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the judges for the 2025 Lighted Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec. 14. The judges, representatives of each sponsoring organization, are Kevin Pryse, President of the Harney County Chamber of Commerce, Hilda Allison, City of Hines Council, and Heather Smith, City of Burns Council. Judges will experience the parade from the Chamber, 484 N Broadway Ave., immediately retreating inside to make their decision before the awards ceremony in Hines. The new Executive Director for the Chamber, Jess Hedges, will announce the parade. Thanks to the generous donation from Katie Bati Designs, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies will be awarded.

Floats will line up at 5:30 p.m. on N Alder Street, proceed down Broadway at 6 p.m., ending near Burns Garage. The entire community is invited to the Hines Christmas Party at the Pavilion Park from 7-9 p.m. for the trophy presentations, hot dogs, hot cocoa, bonfires, and the lighting of the Hines Christmas Tree! For questions, or to enter the parade, please reach out to Duana Woodfin, City of Burns Event Committee Chair, at duanaemarketing@gmail.com. For questions about the festivities at the Hines Pavilion Park, please contact Amie Scott at treasurer@ci.hines.or.us.

The Harney County Chamber of Commerce would like to announce “LAST CALL” for two Harney County Christmas Jamboree contests! The deadline for both is Friday at 12 p.m. The first is the Youth Sagebrush Decorating contest open to six youth organizations. Teams of four members will have one hour to decorate a provided sagebrush and our Harney County Fair and Rodeo Court will choose the winner! The Chamber provides the sagebrush, the youth organization provides the decorations. That team will win $200 for their organization, so don’t delay. Please email director@harneycounty.com or call 541-573-2636 to get entered.

The second contest is the Gingerbread House Decorating Contest. Prizes will be awarded in three categories, which include 10 and under, 11-17, and Family with no advance entry is necessary. Two $25 and one $50 Shop Harney Gift Cards will be awarded in each category. Please have all Gingerbread Houses to the Harney County Community Center by 12 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13 for display and come on down to vote during the Harney County Christmas Jamboree on Saturday, Dec. 14! Questions can be directed to Jess at 541-573-2636.
