Russell Harry Kowalski, 75, passed unexpectedly on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2022. He was born, Aug. 5, 1947 in Burns to his parents, Harry and Bobbie Kowalski.

Russell graduated Burns High School 1966, and was junior class president and overall amazing athlete. Following graduation, he served with the US Army for 28 years with three tours to Vietnam in the Vietnam War. After the war, he received his teaching degree from Eastern Oregon University in 1982. He was a member of the Lions Club for many years and a volunteer to any community he lived in.

He was preceded by his parents. Surviving family includes his sons, Peter Kowalski and Kyle Kowalski; daughter, Kayla Evans; and two grandchildren. Four dogs and two cats still remain at residence needing rehoming and donations for food are welcome, call 541-610-4147.

A service of remembrance will be announced next summer with Veteran Honors
