Gerald (Jerry) Edwin Francis

Jerry passed away on March 24, 2025 after a long illness.

Born on Sept. 21, 1937, in Ellsworth, Minn., to Bert and Harriet Francis. Jerry had two brothers, Robert (Bob) Francis, Eugene (Gene) Francis and was later joined with a sister, Anita Francis and brother, Harlan Francis.

The family made their way to Seneca, and later to Hines. Jerry graduated from Burns High School in 1956. Following high school, he worked at Boeing for a while, and then returned to Burns and had various jobs. Then he was drafted into the Army and was stationed in France during the Cold War.

After the Army he returned to Burns and married Marilyn Anderson on Feb. 27, 1965. They made their home in Burns and Jerry worked for the Forest Service for more than 50 years. During that time, he had FBI training in Washington DC, and was promoted to a Federal Marshall. After Marilyn passed away on Dec. 16, 2006, he continued to live in Burns, eventually moving to Aspens Living Center in Hines.

Later in life Jerry met Peggy Johnson, a long-time friend and companion of which they both enjoyed traveling and spending time together.

Jerry leaves behind family and friends and a legacy of love, caring and friendships that will forever be in the hearts of those who were privileged to know him.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Harriet Francis; brothers, Bob and Gene; and wife, Marilyn Francis. Survivors are his sister, Anita (Milwaukie, Ore.); brother, Harlan (Salem); niece and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and a few great-greats.

In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting donations to be made to a Parkinsons Foundation or any Hospice of your choice.
