Larry Carlon 1934 – 2025 Obituary February 12, 2025February 20, 20250 Larry Carlon was born Dec. 13, 1934, to Homer and Austa Carlon in the Paisley Hotel in Paisley. He joined two older sisters, Doris and Betty. When Larry was 10 years old, they moved from Lake County to Harney County. The Carlon brothers had purchased the Silver Creek Ranch in 1941, and in 1944 Homer bought them out. They spent a lot of time between Silver Creek and Wagontire. During the school year the kids attended school in Burns. In September of 1956, Larry married Wanda May Morgan. Their first son, William (Bill) was born in October of 1957, Michael (Mike) was born in February of 1960 and then Terry in May of 1962. The Silver Creek Ranch sold in 1960 and Larry and family moved to Little Valley. They purchased a ranch in Buelah in 1962 and were there for 10 years before Larry took a job managing The Circle Bar Ranch in 1972. While managing the Circle Bar he purchased the Graves Place from Ted and Mildred Graves, which would end up being their final destination. Larry managed various ranches in Oregon and Northern Nevada until settling at the Graves place in the late 1980’s. He drove truck and had numerous other jobs while running his own cattle ranch. Larry is survived by his sons, Bill and Terry; grandchildren, Courtney Young, Brandi Esp and Beau Carlon; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Addison Young and Tyrel Esp; nephew, Jon White; and niece, Mary Lee White. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda; parents, Homer and Austa Carlon; sisters, Doris White and Betty Morgan; and son, Mike Carlon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Burns Elks Lodge #1680 in Larry’s name. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2025, at 11 a.m., at the Burns Elks Lodge #1680. Committal Service to follow in the Burns Cemetery, a fellowship luncheon will follow services in the Burns Elks Lodge #1680.
