James Gaelan Ganskopp 1989 – 2025 Obituary February 5, 2025February 5, 20250 With sadden hearts we announce the passing of our son, James Gaelan Ganskopp, from melanoma complications in the early hours of Jan. 24, at the Oregon Health Sciences University Hospital Portland, Oregon. James was born to Charlotte and David Ganskopp on Feb 8, 1989 in Burns, residing in Hines throughout his formative years. Post high school, James entered the food service industry living and working in Louisville, Ky.; Bowling Green, Ky.; had a brief return to Hines; followed by a move to Billings, Mont.; and subsequently Portland, where he was employed as a chef. As a youngster, James participated in the 4-H Friskey Fleas Dog Club, middle and high school bands playing the French Horn, the High Desert Swim Team, and Boy Scouts of America attaining Eagle Scout status. His entertainment passions and interests included outdoor activities, especially the pursuit and care of our resident reptiles, the challenges of today’s electronic games, and as an adult, all things food. James leaves his parents, a fiancée, Cassandra Wallace of Portland, and aunts, uncles, and cousins dispersed among Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virgina, Maryland, New Mexico, Colorado, Illinois, and Florida. He experienced innumerable joys in this community and came to know and experience love during his stay on earth. With that said, in many ways he lived a full but brief life. No services are planned, as James will be cremated with ashes dispersed among some of his favorite haunts to perhaps foster life among other entities. To those in the community contributing to his many experiences and the shaping of his character we extend a most sincere “thank you.”
