Miriam Ruth (Hershberger) Mallea passed away at her home on Oct. 24, 2024.

Miriam was born in Emmett, Idaho on Nov. 13, 1933 to Mary and John Hershberger. She had two siblings, Valeta and Fred.

In February of 1955, Miriam married the love of her life, David Mallea.

Miriam was an avid bridge player and loved playing golf. Miriam was a familiar face at Burns High School from the late 1960s until her retirement in 1990. She always had a smile on her face and enjoyed her job.

Miriam is survived by two daughters, Linda C. Peterson of Boise, and Cindy Sword of Hines; grandchildren, Joelene (Arnie) Peasley, Zach Sword and Erika Lynn; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Miriam was preceded in death by her parents; siblings; husband, Dave Mallea; and grandchildren, Kim Hensley and Jeret Peterson.

The family would like to thank Dee Dee Henry, Harney Home and Hospice and all of her wonderful friends for their amazing support and care. 

At Miriam’s request, there will be no services. Donations in her memory can be made to Harney Home Health and Hospice, 415 N. Fairview Ave., Burns, Or. 97720.
