Kingman, Ariz., resident Benjamin (Ben) F. Lohf, 88, passed away Sept. 21, 2024, at the Kingman Regional Medical Center (KRMC) Joan and Diana Hospice Home in Kingman, after a brief illness. At his request, no services will be held. Before moving to Kingman, he lived in Lakeview, for more than 40 years where his work as a philanthropist made a difference in the lives of countless Lakeview residents.

Mr. Lohf was a talented artist, lover of Native American lore and an accomplished lapidarist. He was also a gifted wood and leather craftsman, teaching many residents in Lakeview and Kingman the crafts he mastered.  

During his life he spent time as a sheepherder, logger, car salesman, and mechanic. He also owned his own Christmas tree business and hosted tree lots in several Oregon, Nevada and California cities. An avid outdoorsman, fisherman and firearms expert, he often crafted fishing gear, weapons and gunstocks from scratch.

While living in Oregon, Mr. Lohf served in the Oregon National Guard and as a Corporal was awarded the Dead-Eye Award. In 1987 he received a Certificate of Merit from the US Department of Agriculture for maintaining and improving Oregon road signage.

Born July 18, 1936 in Burns, he was the son of Henry Floyd Lohf and Margaret Mix Lohf, residents of Hines. Mr. Lohf graduated from Burns Union High School where he played on the basketball and football teams. After moving to Lakeview, he married Lillian Bernice (Meaker) O’Callaghan who preceded him in death.

He is survived by two sons, Wayne and Terry Lohf; and two daughters, Cynthia Tieck and Patricia Haugen; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
