The Harney County Fair is just around the corner, and we’re inviting all local residents to showcase their talents and creativity by entering their best work into this year’s competition! Whether you’re a seasoned crafter, a passionate baker, or an enthusiastic gardener, there’s a place for your entry at the open static exhibits at the fair.

Show Off Your Skills and Win Big!

We are thrilled to announce a host of incredible prizes for our judges’ choice awards, including:

• A Mini Singer Sewing Machine: Perfect for starting a new sewing project.

• An Electric Mixer: Ideal for baking enthusiasts looking to elevate their culinary creations.

• Beautiful Flowers to Plant: Add a touch of color and life to your garden with these stunning blooms.

• A Gorilla Cart: A great way to haul soil, feed, heavy items, the perfect addition to make the difficult jobs easier. 

• A Paint Set: A beautiful set including acrylic paint, brushes, and all the needed tools required to create a beautiful new paint project. 

• A Kodak camera: Perfect for catching all those great shots you don’t want to miss. 

In addition to these fantastic awards, anyone that attends the free demonstration classes hosted by the “Harney County Food Systems Group,” an initiative of the High Desert Partnerships Biz Harney Collaborative, will have a chance to win something truly special:

• A New Greenhouse: Enter our drawing for a chance to cultivate your favorite plants in your own greenhouse, perfect for extending your gardening season!

• The classes will be held on Thursday, Sept. 5, starting at 4 p.m. The drawing will be announced Saturday, Sept. 7, at 1 p.m., prior to the Livestock auction, you do not need to be present to win.

How to Enter: Entering is easy! Go online to http://harneycounty.fairentry.com/ All entries must be in the system prior to check in! Please pre-register as many exhibits as you think you may bring. Only items brought on the day of the fair will be official. Pre-registration closes Monday, Sept. 2, 2024. Pre-Registration fee is $5.00 for 15 items- an additional $5.00 for over 15. Registration after September 2- $10 for 15 items. Entry fee to be paid at the time of check in. 

Simply bring your entries to the fairgrounds during registration day, Wednesday, Sept. 4, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Categories include everything from homemade jams and jellies to handcrafted quilts, from potted plants to paintings. No matter your skill or passion, we want to see what you’ve been working on!

Key Dates:

• Entry Registration: Completed prior to Monday September 2nd, 2024. 

• Fair Dates: Sept. 3-7, 2024

• Demonstration classes: Attend free demonstration classes Thursday September 5th starting at 4:00 pm at fairgrounds to be entered to win a greenhouse. A free canning demonstration class will be held by OSU Extension on Friday September 6th at 3:00pm at the fairgrounds. 

• Drawing for Greenhouse: Saturday, Sept. 7, at 1 p.m.
