Ronald, 89, of Ontario, passed away peacefully with his wife and family by his side on July 13, 2024. He was born April 11, 1935, in Springfield, Ore., to Carl and Leona Smith.

He married his loving wife, Mary Ann on Nov. 10, 1989. Ron worked for the Lane County Public Works Department for 35-years as a road maintenance supervisor. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and doing things with his family and friends. 

Surviving is his wife, Mary Ann of Ontario; his daughter, Rhonda (Jerry) Potter, of Springfield; son, Jeff (Patty) Smith of Springfield; brother-in-law, Ronnie Powell of Ontario; sister-in-law’s, Alberta of Canyon City and Elsie Armstrong of Burns; six grandkids, Ryan, Travis, Derick, Kristen, Ashly and Kaley; four great-grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces.

Both his parents; brother, Gary; and son, David, precedes him in death.

A graveside service will be held Friday, Aug. 2, at 10:30 a.m., at the Burns Cemetery.
