20 teams competed for cash and prizes at the 21st annual Harney County Ranch Rodeo, held on Saturday, July 13, at the Harney County Fairgrounds.

Teams competed in seven different events for the top spot with Easterday Ranches coming out on top. The team, consisting of Dusty Easterday, Shaun Lequerica, Brian Grenke, Zalin Arritola, and Bailey Berrett, each received a payout of $1,000 per person, along with their choice of prizes.

Second place was awarded to team Trophy Hunters. Their team consisted of Tyler Opie, Trevor Knowles, Ryan Opie, Tate Sword, and Dani Clark. Each member received $600 and the second pick of prizes.

The CS Cattle team, Paul Padilla, Vinnie Padilla, Christain Stremler, Clay Stremler, and Hayley Penington, finished in third place, winning $400 per person and the third pick of the prizes.

In fourth place, team Anseth Ranch, Quentin Anseth, Cleve Anseth, Jim Berrett, Junior Harney, and Riata Anseth, each won $200 per person and the fourth pick of the prizes.

The prizes for the top four teams to choose from were:

• Rawhide reins made by Dan Fowler;

• Five-star saddle pads;

• RTIC coolers;

• Cactus rope bags.

The Top Hand award went to Tate Sword of Trophy Hunters. Sword received a custom hat made by Gene Baldwin of Sisters, Ore.

Winners of the Calcutta were Bill Buermann, 1st, $1,433; Zach Sword, 2nd, $859; Annette Carson, 3rd, $573.

Team Branding: Ranch Ropes — Easterday Ranch (Time: 2.24), Dusty Easterday, Shaun Lequerica, Brian Grenke and Zalin Arritola.

Ranch Doctoring: Case Knives donated by Joe & Becky Kingen — CS Cattle (Time: 35.47), Paul Padilla, Vinnie Padilla, Christain Stremler and Clay Stremler.

Steer Stopping: RTIC Cooler — Bailey Berrett, Easterday Ranch (Time: 5.07).

Saddle Bronc Riding: Spurs — Zalin Arritola, Easterday Ranch (Score: 80).

Trailer Loading: Rein Chains by Bill Grant — Under The Table Gang (Time: 37.5), Todd Carson, Willy Stoddart, Wyatt Clark and Ryan Bingham.

Team Roping: Bex Sunglasses — CS Cattle (Time: 1:10 on two head), Vinnie Padilla, Paul Padilla, Christain Stremler and Clay Stremler.

Horse Roping: Chokers by Andi Clark (2-Fast Time) — Christian Stremler and Clay Stremler, CS Cattle (Time: 10.28).

All contestants who paid their fees early were entered into an early bird drawing. This year, Clay Tyree, won a bridle set with rawhide reins that were locally crafted by Brad Mastre, Pat Horlacher, Bill Grant and Dan Fowler.
