Linda Kay (Garland) Rove May 10, 1945 – May 9, 2024

Linda Kay Rove was born in Burns, to Francis McVay Garland and joined her two older brothers Don and “Bud”. Her father, Erskine, died shortly before her birth in a tragic mill accident. Roman Yariate later married Frances to help fill that void.

She was active in high school and a majorette. Linda would go on to graduate from Burns High School in 1963.  Married twice, Linda never had children of her own, but enjoyed her step-children, grand and great-grandchildren and the many nieces, friends and extended family members.

She married Olaf Rove in November of 1978 and traveled the World and the United States. She visited the White House during the George W. Bush administration, and the Caribbean, Europe, Asia were memorable. Summer gatherings at the Big Eddy Marina on the Columbia River were plentiful and annual visits to the Oregon Coast were a must. Olaf owned and flew his own plane, which took them often to Burns, Pike Lake, Wisc., and California to visit family.

Linda enjoyed the company of friends and family at her home in Gresham overlooking the nursery fields and Mt. Hood. Olaf, her husband of 40 years predeceased her in 2019. Following an extended illness, Linda passed peacefully surrounded by family.

She is survived by her three step-daughters, Jane (Sam) Whitehead, Susan (Jerry) Thompson, Peggy (Tim) Simmons; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to join a small celebration scheduled at Heidi’s restaurant in Gresham, on Saturday, July 13, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
