Jon was born on Feb. 16, 1962, in Burns, to Kip and Joan Atkins. He lived in Burns through the fifth grade, when his family moved to Hood River, but he wondered back to Burns several times throughout his life.

Jon was a free spirit and always wanted to see what was on the other side of the hill. He loved to draw and play his guitar. In his lifetime he held several jobs, a deckhand on various fishing boats in Alaska, to trimming trees in Arizona, and cooking at various places in between. 

Jon’s love of his life, Vicky Allen, passed away in 2023. They had traveled several roads together.

Jon was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Kent Atkins. 

Jon is survived by brother, Steve (Martha) Atkins of Burns; niece, Addi (Bryan) Daisley of Seattle; and stepmother, Linda Rove of Gresham.

Jon left us on Feb. 17, 2024, at St. Charles Hospital in Bend. As per his request, there will be no service.
