John Duane Bergquist, age 74, of De Queen, Ark., went to be in the arms of Jesus on Sunday, Dec. 24, 2023.

He was born in Longview, Wash., on Jan. 3, 1949, to the late Gale Bergquist and Eleanor (Bartell) Bergquist.

John was hard-working, generous, and kind. He was always joyful and was a friend and prayer warrior to all. John looked forward to services with his church family at Dierks First Assembly. He loved spending time on the golf course, putting puzzles together, attending reunions, and visiting the Oregon Coast. Most of all, John enjoyed being the sweetest daddy and spending time with his girls.

John moved to Burns to attend his junior and senior years of high school. He was class of ‘67. He was also the Student Body President that year, and was involved in many sports. He stayed on in Burns after graduating from BUHS and worked at Edward Hines mill. He and his wife moved from Burns in 1977, but managed to make many trips back to visit friends and attend many of the high school reunions.

Awaiting to be reunited with him is his wife of 48 years, Debbie; his daughters, Brianne and Haylee; sister, Teri (Richard) Belisle, of Marysville, Wash.; brothers, Butch (Connie) Thomas, of Dawsonville, Ga., Mike (Janalee) Bergquist of Gresham, Ore., Greg (Cathy) Bergquist of Richland, Wash., Jamie Bergquist of Portland, Ore.; stepmother, Charleen Bergquist of Portland, Ore.; several brothers-and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews; and many close friends.

Private family services will be held at the Grannis Arkansas Cemetery.
