Lola Marlene Benton, 66, a resident of Hines, passed away of Alzheimers, on Oct. 4, 2023.

She was born in Stayton, Ore., in 1957 to William and Louise Mohr, and was one of nine children. Lola attended Detroit High School before studying accounting at Western Business College. 

In addition to being loved by her large family and many friends, she was one of the many beloved lunch ladies. She was very passionate about watching all the community’s children grow and ensuring they were fed.

Lola was preceded in death by her father, William Mohr; mother, Louise Mohr; brother, Billie Johnson; sister, Sandy (Kelly) Wilhite. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Dennis Benton; her children, son, Matthew (Mary) Benton, daughter, Jennifer (Jason) Dent; her siblings, Anita (Frank) Yates, Jim Johnson, Sharon Barton, Mike (Kari) Mohr, Cindy (Steve) Higginbotham and Brian Mohr; many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Celebration of life will be held on Oct. 21, 2023, at The Historic Central Hotel event space in Burns, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.
