Mary Lynne Zachariasen, of The Dalles, Ore., beloved sister, aunt and friend, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 3, at her home in Burns. She was 67.

She was born Jan. 16, 1956, in The Dalles, to Malcolm Earl Richelderfer and Edwina “Bunny” Breshears Richelderfer. Mary was the seventh of eight children. She spent her childhood in The Dalles and graduated from Wahtonka High School.

Mary married Dean Zachariasen. Together they had one son, Sean Zachariasen. Later they were divorced.

Mary was a devout Catholic; though for awhile she wandered away, the faith was in her bones. In her final years she had great joy in taking care of the altar at St. Peter’s in The Dalles and then Holy Family in Burns. She could wash and iron altar cloths and Mass linens like no one else. It was an expression of her devotion; the best for God. She set a high standard and she taught and helped others to reach that standard. In a quiet way she touched many lives.

Mary is survived by her son, Sean Zachariasen of Portland; sister, Georgia Benson, and husband, Wilbert J. Benson of The Dalles; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Malcolm; her mother, Bunny; her uncle, Theron Richelderfer; five brothers, Charles Gibson, Martin Richelderfer, Brian Richelderfer, Paul Gibson and Michael Gibson; and one sister, Sally Groce.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 6 p.m., on Monday, Oct. 9, at Holy Family in Burns, preceded by a rosary at 5:30 p.m. A burial will take place at St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in The Dalles, date to be determined.

Arrangements are under the direction of LaFollette Chapel in Burns.
