She was a remarkable woman who brought love, laughter, and joy to all those fortunate enough to know her. Tam was born in Pendleton, on Oct. 10, 1939 to Charles (Frank) Lybecker and Charlotte Tullis. At that time, she joined two older siblings, Susan, and Pete. As time went by she became the older sister to Georgann, Anita, Kathy, Walter, and Jenny. She was married to Johnny C. Petersen from 1955-1983. They were high school sweethearts in North Powder. Not much time past before they were raising four boys, Mike, Gregg, Jeff, and Steve. They settled in Burns, just prior to having their fifth child, Amy, in 1970. Tam was the epitome of a loving and dedicated mother. She found immense joy in raising her five children, providing them with unwavering support, guidance, affection, and wisdom. In 1985, Tam’s nurturing nature extended beyond her immediate family when she married Doyle Dean Branson. This blending of families resulted in Tam and Doyle’s pride and joy: 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Her family was the cornerstone of her life, she took immeasurable pride in their achievements and milestones. She also had the gift of concern. Her worry grew as the family grew. She wanted nothing more than safety, security, and happiness for each one. Her presence during family gatherings was always cherished, as she had a unique ability to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Tam’s laughter was truly contagious, brightening every moment. From birthdays to graduations, weddings to anniversaries, she made sure to be present for every significant life event. Love was her SuperPower, which had the capacity to expand and grow, especially with each new baby’s arrival. A sure testament to the boundless nature of her love. Potato salad and cheesecake were Tam’s culinary specialties. Family gatherings would not have been complete without her delicious homemade dishes, which brought everyone together around the table. These meals became a symbol of love, tradition, and cherished memories that will continue to be shared by generations to come. Tam had a competitive spirit. In her younger years she was a serious card player, regularly participating in Contract Bridge games. She was a talented softball pitcher, playing several years on a local team league. As a passionate sports fan, Tam’s heart belonged to the Portland Trailblazers. She also cheered for home-town teams and sports players with unwavering loyalty. You could count on her attendance at as many of her kids and grandkids sporting events as possible. Her rambunctious enthusiasm was infectious during thrilling victories and heartbreaking defeats. Tam loved travel and adventure. For fun, she discovered a love of waterskiing. Tam and Doyle spent as much time as possible camping, boating, and skiing over the summer months. They also enjoyed hauling their travel trailer on many trips with family and friends. They visited South Dakota, explored Utah and the Grand Canyon, and ventured through Yellowstone. They also spent a couple winters as snowbirds in Arizona. She even helped family relocate by driving across the United States from Oregon to Pennsylvania with three small children. She had the opportunity to travel overseas to Austria , which was a highlight of her many adventures. She held various office jobs over the course of her career. A few local businesses where she worked included A Parts, Harney District Hospital, and Harney County Federal Credit Union. She retired after working several years as the Sales Manager at Burns Ford.
