Darrel “Moose” Simmons, age 73, passed away at his home in John Day on May 24, 2023. A celebration of life in his honor will be held on July 8th, 2023, at the Elks Lodge at 1:00 PM in JohnDay.

Darrel was born at the Blue Mt. Hospital in Prairie

City, on October 10, 1949, to Wayne and Elouise Simmons. He Grew up in Canyon City and graduated from Grant Union High School in 1968. He married his wife, Teresa, in 1976 and had two children, Maria and Wayne.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Elouise Simmons; sister, Paralee Bare; and brother-in-law, Jim Bare.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa, of forty-six years; his children, Maria (John) Higgins and Wayne (Emily Oden); his grandchildren, Alexis and Carson Higgins; his brother, Monte Simmons; and his nieces and nephews.
