Carol Ann Tummonds July 4, 1938 – April 17, 2023

Carol Ann Tummonds went home to the Lord on April 17, 2023, at age 84, after a long battle with dementia.

Carol was born to Donald and Laura (Woodward) Johnson on July 4, 1938, in Estherville, Iowa. She spent her childhood in Iowa, before her family moved to Oregon when she was a teenager. 

Carol met her husband, Donald Tummonds, in Burns, while she was attending high school, they were married on Sept. 2, 1955.

Carol and Don lived in many areas of Oregon while Don was employed by the Oregon Department of Transportation. During this time they welcomed their three boys – Donald Jr. born in 1956; Paul born in 1961, and John born in 1966. After their sons were grown and Don’s retirement they moved from the Willamette Valley, back to Burns, before settling in Central Oregon. 

In addition to being a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother she was a meat cutter, a real estate agent, a small business owner, and a well known horse breeder, with Al Kamsa Arabian horses. 

Carol had an unwavering faith in God, and her faith only grew stronger in her final years of life. She was baptized early in her life, and raised her family within the church.

Carol joins her husband, Don, in Heaven, where they are finally reunited. Also preceding her in death are her mother and father; brothers, Donald Jr., Thomas, and David; sister, Patricia; sons, Paul, Donald Jr. and his wife, Rhonda; and great-grandchildren, Simon and Macie. She is survived by her brother, Alfred, son, John and his significant other, Lorie; daughter-in-law, Michelle; granddaughters: Brittany, her husband, Nathan, Brianna, and Bryn; great-grandchildren: Addisyn, Jacob, Joanna, Jillian, and Joel.

Carol was loved by so many. Her positive outlook, generous spirit, and kind heart left an impression wherever she went. 

A private family graveside service was held at Deschutes Memorial Gardens on Saturday, May 20.
