Diane Marie Oster-Courtney 1959 – 2023 Obituary May 10, 2023May 10, 20230 On April 16, 2023, Diane Marie Oster-Courtney left for her next adventure after a three year long battle with ovarian cancer. Born in Portland in 1959, Diane and her family moved to Hines, when she was three. Through those early years, Diane and her family had many memorable adventures, but the ones she enjoyed most often were on or around Steens Mountain. Diane graduated from Burns High School and moved to Portland under the guise of receiving an education while playing sports. After many exciting and life changing events Diane moved to Eugene. Here she started a relationship with the guy she would spend the rest of her life with and the next 36 years, Steve Courtney. Together they moved around the Northwest while raising three kids and having many memorable adventures. Diane’s career consisted of many different marketing and promotional positions, including insurance, the Blue Mountain Eagle Newspaper, Olympic Logging Conference, and many school program fundraisers. Diane loved being outdoors with her family camping, fishing, mushroom picking and enjoying wildlife; she had a particular affinity for eastern Oregon. Diane enjoyed traveling and always had a desire to find new experiences. Throughout Diane’s life, her adventures included her dogs. Whether her kids or husband selected the dog, it was Diane’s. She loved to train them, care for them, but most of all, enjoyed their companionship. Diane is survived by her mother, Geri Oster; sister, Nancy Oster-Courtney (Dave); husband, Steve Courtney; son, Ryan Courtney (Charity); daughter, Linsey Mitchell (Brad), daughter, Mackenzie Courtney; as well as three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Arlie Oster and younger sister, Adriene Oster.
