(Photo by HALLEIGH BAKER) In a battle of No. 1 ranked teams, the class 1A Crane Mustang girls basketball team defeated the best team in the 4A ranks in Oregon with a 57-54 victory over the Baker Bulldogs in Baker City on Saturday, Feb. 4. Kortney Doman led the Crane offensive attack, scoring 25 points in the game as the Mustangs came back from a fourth-quarter deficit to pull out the win. Trailing Baker by seven points going in to the fourth quarter, Crane mounted a comeback, outscoring the Bulldogs 18-8 in the final minutes to up their season record to 20-1. Adding to K. Doman’s 25 points, Ava Bowen scored 12 for the Mustangs. Taylor Joyce added nine, Leslie Doman scored seven, and Alexia Ballard finished with four. Baker’s Jozie Ramos scored a game high 30 points for the Bulldogs. Crane (20-1, 6-0) finishes out the regular season on the road this weekend with a game at Dayville/Monument (6-12, 0-4) on Friday, Feb. 10. Game time is set for 5 p.m. Crane will then take on Adrian (11-10, 4-3) on Saturday, Feb. 11. Tipoff is at 2:15 p.m. (MT).
