Richard “Rich” Calvin Weaver 1941 – 2023 Obituary February 1, 2023February 1, 20230 Richard “Rich” Calvin Weaver was born Aug. 22, 1941, in Dallas, Ore. He passed away on Jan. 19, 2023, at St. Mary’s hospital in Walla Walla, Wash. Rich grew up in Myrtle Creek, Ore. He was a road engineer for 47 years at the US Forest Service, Hines Lumber Co., and Bob Otley Construction. Rich and Theresa met in Tiller, Ore., and married Dec. 30, 1967. In 1968, Richard received a promotion and was transferred to Cottage Grove. They moved to John Day in 1969 and had their first daughter, Katrina, in 1971. They then moved to Hines in 1973 where their second daughter, Aimee, was born in 1974. They resided in Enumclaw from 1974-1976 then returned to Hines. Rich worked for the US Forest Service until he resigned in 1978 and began working for Edward Hines Lumber Company as a roadside boss. He worked there until 1980 then began working for Bob Otley. In the spring of 1985, they moved to Willamette Valley and Rich started to work for his brother Gary Weaver at Weaver Seed of Oregon. He ran the seed warehouse until the fall of 1986 they moved back to John Day where their son, Matthew, was born in 1988. In John Day Richard began to work for the USFS again. In the summer of 1991, they made their final move to Milton-Freewater, Ore. Richard retired in 2007. Richard was passionate about cars and auto cross racing, participating in countless races throughout his lifetime. He spent a lot of time fishing and camping in Montana and along the Snake River. He also enjoyed hunting and reloading. Richard was a conservative man that believed in the Constitution. He had a close relationship with the newspaper editors. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and Elks, also a longtime member of the RMEF. Rich is survived by his wife, Theresa Hammett Weaver; siblings, Gary, Dean and Sue; daughters, Katrina Sorenson and her husband, Trent, Aimee Rude her husband, Tim, and son, Matthew and his wife, Sarah; grandkids, Janea, Mercedes, Teirney, Tyler, Tristin, Dakota and Jozie; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Mary Weaver; and his grandson, Tyler Oliver. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the NRA or loudly promoting his conservative beliefs.
