Charles “Jack” Armstrong 1946 – 2022 Obituary December 28, 2022December 28, 20220 On Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2022, Charles “Jack” Armstrong passed away at the age of 76 at the VA home in Winfield, Kan. Charles O. Armstrong was born on Feb. 15, 1946 in Burns. His family moved to Willow Creek, in 1960, where he attended grade school. He attended High School in Crane. A 22 year Navy veteran, he joined the service at the age of 17. He served in Vietnam and made three ‘round the world cruises. He married Vickie Hecht in 1970. He was stationed in San Diego, Calif. when he retired in 1983, and moved to Caldwell, Kan., with his family. A “Jack” of all trades he worked several jobs before his final retirement: farming, trucking, and maintenance. There wasn’t much that he couldn’t fix. He is predeceased by his parents, Richard James Armstrong and Velda Adel Kimball Armstrong; his brother, Daniel Armstrong; and one grandson, Joshua Bilyeu. He is survived by his sisters, Linda Cooksey Bossen (Jim) of Salem and Marsha Armstrong (Keith Carter) of Ontario; his daughters, Roberta Counterman (David) and Renee Armstrong, both of Emporia, Kan.; two grandchildren, Amanda Dalton (Corbett) of Stillwater, Okla., and Stephen D. Bilyeu of Ponca City, Okla., and five great-grandchildren. There is no service scheduled at this time. The family requests no flowers but would be grateful for donations to the Wounded Warrior Project in the name of Charles O. Armstrong, First Class Petty Officer, USN
