Patricia “Patty” Louise Warton (Moser) 1940 – 2022 Obituary April 20, 2022April 20, 20220 Patricia “Patty” Louise Warton (Moser) passed away in Sublimity, Ore., on March 5, 2022, after an extended illness. Patty was a caring, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Patty was born on May 25, 1940 to Paul and Margaret “Alice” Moser (Hite) in Ontario, joining her older brother, Bill at the family home in Little Valley. Sisters, Charlotte and Donna, joined the family over the next few years. In her early years, the family spent most of their time following their sheep herds around western Malheur County, living in tents in the summer. When she was five, her father Paul was killed in an accident. At that time, the family moved to Vale to be near her mother’s family and she started elementary school while living with her grandmother Ada. Her mother remarried in 1948 to George “Laddie” Clark, and the family moved to Drewsey where she attended school. They then moved to her grandfather Harry Clark’s place up the river from Drewsey in the Pine Creek community. In 1952 the family bought property up the Malheur River and moved to the Clark family ranch. She gained a new brother, Norm and sister, Jeanie as the family grew. While other family members worked outdoors with the livestock and haying, Patty took on looking after her younger siblings and keeping up with the household chores. She attended elementary school at Pine Creek, then was off to the boarding school at Crane for her high school years. During her summers in high school, she worked at two different restaurants in Juntura. Following graduation from high school in May 1958, she married Robert “Bob” Flathers in Jackson Hole, Wyo. and they set up their home in Burns. Their son, Butch was born in Burns. Bob was in the National Guard and was drafted into the Army and stationed in Germany, where Patty joined him. Their daughter, Sherri was born in Germany. After a couple years, Bob’s tour was complete and they moved back to Burns where they resided for the next decade, raising their two children. Patty and Bob divorced, and Patty continued to live in Burns while working at the Burns Clinic in administration. Patty married Gerald “Gerry” Warton in 1980 in Burns where they resided to begin their married life. After a few years, they relocated to Redmond. Gerry decided to pursue additional education, so they moved to Corvallis for him to attend Oregon State University. Gerry was a retired Air Force Colonel, and was used to the military life of moving every few years, so they continued to relocate several times to experience new locales and friends. First up was a year of traveling in their RV around the West to buy and sell antiques. They eventually settled in Las Vegas, Nev. then moved to Mesquite, Nev., followed by Idaho City, Idaho, then Meridian, Idaho and finally to Bend. During this time, Patty worked at an elementary school, sold Mary Kay cosmetics and stayed active in the American Legion Auxiliary. In 2013 Gerry passed away in Bend. Patty then moved to Sublimity to be closer to family and the lower elevation because of her illness. She enjoyed her final years at Marion Estates retirement community with friends. Patty loved puttering around outside in her flower beds and spending time on her patio. Wherever she was you would also find her little companion dog Brittany. They had a very special bond and were meant for each other. She also loved spending time with her friends whether she was entertaining, playing pinochle, visiting or just having a quiet evening with them and a glass of wine. She was always making new friends. Patty was preceded in death by her parents, Paul, Alice, and Laddie; her brother, William “Bill” Moser; and her husband, Gerry. Patty is survived by her son, Robert “Butch” Flathers; daughter, Sherri (Flathers) and husband, Gary Young; stepson, Kip and wife, Julia Warton; stepdaughter, Lauri (Warton) and husband, John Askew; stepson, Robert “Bob” and wife, Gwen Warton; granddaughter, Erin Flathers; granddaughter, Courtney Flathers and wife, Beka Young, great-grandson, Sawyer, great-granddaughter, Hattie; granddaughter, Kelsey Flathers; grandson, Zach Flathers; granddaughter, Brittany (Young) and husband, Dustin Boyer, great-granddaughter, Lacey, great-grandson, Logan; sister-in-law, Ruth Moser; sister, Charlotte (Moser) and husband, Darrell Northrop; sister, Donna (Moser) Fink; brother, Norman and wife, Anne Clark; sister, Jeanie (Clark) and husband, Ed Voltin; and numerous step-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
