The Hilander track team competed at the Small Schools Meet at Grant Union High School on Tuesday, April 5. Host team Grant Union took 1st place in the womens events with 142 points. Crane finished second with 140, followed by Burns with 86, Heppner 76, Elgin 53, Mitchell-Spray 32, Pine Eagle 26, Powder Valley 22, Prairie City 21, Wheeler 10, and Monument 5. On the boys side, Grant Union took first with 127 points. Hepper placed second with 99 points, Burns came in third with 82.5, Prairie City 65, Powder Valley 64.5, Pine Eagle 64.5, Mitchell-Spray 61.5, Crane 47, Elgin 25, and Monument 8. The girls team placed second with 78 points behind Caldera, who racked up 95.5 points. Ridgeview placed third with 74, Madras 69, and host team, La Pine scored 64 to round out the top five teams. The Burns 4×100 relay team consisting of Aleyna Banks, Olivia Winn, Shailey White, and Aliyah Adams placed first. Caitlyn Horrell also took the top spot in the shot put. The boys team finished in sixth place with 55 points. Ridgeview took home the team title scoring 133 points. Masson Shaw took the boys team’s only first-place medal in the 3000m.
