Patsy J. Castles 1936 – 2022 Obituary March 16, 2022March 16, 20220 Patsy J. Castles passed away at her home on March 4, 2022. She was born in Littlefield, Texas in 1936, the third of four children to Chloe and Robert Boydstun. Still very young, her family moved to Salt Lake City where her grandparents lived and ran a business. They lived in Utah until she was about five years old and then made their way to Oregon. Patsy lived in Eugene for a time and she told stories of walking to a one room country schoolhouse for first grade. Patsy’ family finally made their way to Baker City where she grew up and went to school. She was married and had two children, Cindy and Vikki, however, this marriage was not meant to be. She met the real love of her life, Mike Castles, who had just returned home from the Navy. They married and decided to move to Los Angeles, Calif., where he had friends and there were more jobs to be had. The first few months of their new life together were rather tough. Patsy came down with Polio and was hospitalized for six months. They finally got on to living a normal and happy life, and were blessed with another daughter, Sammie. Mike worked at ALCOA Aluminum and went to college part time, to earn a college degree in welding technology. As the girls got older and started attending school, they got involved with fast pitch softball, so Patsy and Mike made it a family affair and helped manage and coach teams. They stayed in the big city for eleven years and decided to move back to Oregon in 1973 where they would be closer to family and friends. They ended up in Burns where Mike’s family lived and worked. As the family grew, Patsy found great pride and joy watching her grandchildren grow up and become the fine adults they are now. Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister and her beloved daughter, Vikki. She is survived by her husband, Mike; daughters, Cindy Stam and husband, Don, Sammie Masterson and husband, Mike; son-in-law, Dave Turner; grandchildren, Travis Turner (wife Jamie), Allie Taylor (husband Chris) Tyler Stam, Anna Masterson, Jay Masterson (wife Sara); and great-granddaughter, Lily Jo. At her request there will not be a service. Any remembrances for her may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
