Kathryn (Kathy) Jean Scrivner Brinkley, age 75, of Burns, passed away suddenly on Feb. 21, 2022, at the Harney District Hospital. 

She was born on Oct. 29, 1946, in Burns, as the first of two children to Herman and Jean Mace Scrivner. Kathy lived her entire life in Burns, and while attending Burns Union High School, she met her high school sweetheart and future husband Kenneth Lynn Brinkley. 

They were married on May 21, 1966. Kathy and Ken had four children together, first Joshua and then just thirteen months later, they had triplets Levi, Joseph, and Seth.

Family was everything to Kathy. She was a loving and wonderful wife, mother, aunt, and grandmother and was the foundation of her family, through and through. She devoted her life to her children, leaving her position as a bank teller to be a stay-at-home mother when her first son was born. She was an excellent listener, always knowing the right thing to say, never missing a special date, and was a constant cheerleader and supporter.

Kathy loved spending time with her granddaughters, visiting them often and attending as many of their activities and events as she possibly could. Her granddaughters kept her up to date on the latest social media technology and she communicated daily with them through her various social media accounts including Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat. She will be missed dearly and forever by her family.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Jean; an infant sister, Rachel; and her son, Levi. 

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ken; children, Josh (Amy), Joe (Alexis), and Seth (Andrea); her grandchildren, Rachel, Trisha (Zak), Brittany, and Abby; her niece Shannon (Jayme); and nephews John (Carla) and Jess.  

A graveside service for family members will be held on March 5, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the Burns Cemetery. A separate announcement will be forthcoming regarding a Celebration of Life to be held during the weekend of June 4, 2022, at Ken and Kathy Brinkley’s home.
