Our beloved mother, Nana, and friend, Sunday Charlene Male, passed away peacefully at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend on Nov. 23, 2021.

Sunday was born on Dec. 26, 1946 in Hardman, Ore., to Beulah and Merle Pierce. Sunday was raised in several areas throughout Eastern and Central Oregon eventually settling in Harney County in her beloved husband, Jim Male. 

Together, her and Jim would go on to raise 13 children of their own along with many others who she would graciously take under her wing.  

Sunday found joy in crocheting, hunting, fishing, painting, beading, and anything that involves being outdoors. Sunday was also an avid horseman. Often times she would pass these precious skills along to younger generations. 

She had a great love for learning her genealogy and never passed up a moment for storytelling and making new friends. She would always tell people that she was proud of them no matter what or who they were always took people under her wing to help them. 

Sunday’s ultimate love however was being a mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren, often taking in anyone in need.

Sunday is survived by 12 of her 13 children: Anne, Don, David, Dennis, Lynn, Rocky, Matthew Sr., James, Rowdy, Shannon, Rhema, and Dorthey; along with 36 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Beulah and Merle; sister, Julie; husband, Jim; son, Daniel Sr.; and granddaughter, Athena.
