She attended grade school in Hines and graduated from Burns Union High school in 1969. After graduation she attended one year at Lane Community College in Eugene. She then returned to Hines and worked as a dispatcher for the Burns Police Dept for a couple of years. She married James Lawson on Nov. 29, 1973 in Gorst, Wash. They had two children, Timothy James H. Lawson and Loretta LaVoune Lawson. They divorced in 1986. On Feb. 13, 1993 she married Daniel Hofstetter in Mt. Home, Idaho and they divorced in 2009. Sharon contracted polio when she was 18 months old. She wore braces on her lower legs for many years while also using crutches to help her walk. Later in life she was confined to a wheelchair. Her health began to decline after that with several bouts of pneumonia, post polio syndrome and peripheral artery disease. She was a very loving, caring, devoted mother and aunt. She was generous and inviting and always willing to help someone in need. She didn’t have any hobbies but she loved her collection of “Betty Boop” and enjoyed flying her “Betty Boop” flag of the month. Sharing memories with family and friends was a favorite and she loved to have visitors as it became more difficult for her in recent years to get out and about. She cherished the visits and phone calls. Her beautiful smile brightened every room she entered and she will be greatly missed.
