Ray W. Anderson Aug. 10, 1942 – Oct. 27, 2021

Ray W. Anderson took his final ride on Oct. 27, 2021. He passed away at Harney County Hospital surrounded by his loved ones.

Ray was born on Aug. 10, 1942, to William C and Ida Renner Anderson in Burley, Idaho. Ray was one of six children.

Ray attended school in Declo, Idaho. After he completed his schooling he married Judy Rae Hitt, on Sept. 16, 1960. Soon they were blessed with their first born, Ollie. One year later, their second son, Steven joined their family. Judy and Ray made Declo their home. 

Ray worked for several years at IPPI. Then Ray enrolled in barber school at Boise, Idaho. Following graduation, the family moved back to Declo. He barbered with Canova Nelson in Burley. Ray owned a feedlot and broke many horses throughout the years. 

In 1971, Ray and Judy were blessed with a baby girl. Sadly, she was stillborn. Jeffery Ray, their third son came shortly after. Five years later, baby Ryan William, fourth son, completed their family. 

Ray bought cattle for many clients. He purchased cattle from Valley Livestock and worked at Burley Livestock. Ray eventually changed careers and went into the seed harvesting business that took him to Burns. Ray lived there until his passing.

Growing up, Ray bulldogged and rode bareback horses participating in several rodeos over the years. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Ray is survived by his wife, Judy Rae Anderson; his boys, Steve, Jeff (Marie), Ryan; daughter-in-law, Jodi; six grandchildren, Chelsey Hurb, Shalyce (Derek), Shina (Larry), Jaden, Mick, and Wayland; sisters, Bonnie Porter and DeLoa Zimmerman; his in-laws, Jim Hitt (Jolene) and Joe Hitt.

Ray was preceded in death by his son, Ollie; parents, Bill and Ida Anderson; sisters, Billie and Marge; brother, Lee; in-laws, Jim (Pud) and Doris Hitt, Freak and Janet Asher, John Hitt, and Jill Hitt.

Graveside service is planned for the summer of 2022 at the Albion Cemetery.
