Enid Ruth Wort 1921 – 2021 Obituary October 13, 2021October 13, 20210 Enid Ruth Wort passes away peacefully on Aug. 8, 2021 at the home of her daughter in Ordway, Colo., a longtime resident of Burns. She turned 100 years old in May of 2021. Bon in Hagerman, Idaho to Ruth J. (Earnest) Brown of Idaho and Frederick Brown of Vancouver, B.C. During her life she was a seamstress, tailoring uniforms for enlisted men in the Navy and Marines in San Diego, Calif. While in Hollywood, her hands were used in filming of a couple commercials. She also lived in the Salton Sea area where she worked as an assistant of the police department for 18 years. She and her husband, Nash, had a story write-up and pictures of their “Dune Buggy” in the National Geographic Magazine, (she made the purple shirts they wore). Her and Nash were in the “Cotton Bales and Seeds” hauling business. They hauled from Brawley, Calif. to the Modern Ginning Company in Blythe, Calif. In the 1970’s, they bought property in Burns where she had lived until Dec. of 2018; when a stroke left her bedridden and she had to stay in Colorado (a state she absolutely loathed). She supported a number of causes, the Fraternal Order of Police, disable veterans, Wildlife Federation, Native American education and missions, St. Jude’s and other children’s help groups. She was a political supporter of the preservation of social security and senior programs. She loved gardening and she really LOVED CATS. Enid is survived by her daughter, (Lynne) EveLynn Orilla (Miles) Duffell, Sacramento, Calif., grandson’s, Michael L. Duffell, Sacramento, Calif., William D. Duffell, Lincoln, Calif, and four great-grandchildren; son, Virgil Vern Miles (Sandra) of Portland, grandson’s, Alan, Dan and Jay Miles, eight great-grandchildren (including Dan’s adopted daughter, and five great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Marge Miles of Clatskanie, Ore., and grandchildren; grandson, Douglas Wade Stinson (Michelle) and one great-granddaughter, by a previous engagement; daughter, Frances Lucille (Miles, adopted by Stinson)(Wingert) Derby of Ordway, Colo; grandson, Rodney A. Wingert (Melanie) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; granddaughter, Donna M. (Long) Wingert of Monroe, Ore.; great-granddaughter, Olivia Snow (Long) Morse (Stephen) of Coos Bay; sister-in-law, Peggy (Williams) Anderson of Calif.; niece, Melody Anderson of Calif.; sister-in-law, Billie Anderson of Widefield, Colo.; niece, Jamie Anderson of Widefield, Colo. She is preceded in death by her son, (baby) Mike Miles of Idaho; husband, Orville Miles of Idaho; husband, Nash Leo Wort of Nome, Alaska; half-brother, Francis Doyle Anderson of Widefield, Colo.; great-granddaughter, Ariana Miles of Ore.; daughter, Neoma Elaine (Miles, and adopted by Stinson) Scott of Florence, Ore. Enid’s ashes will be placed to rest in the cemetery in Burns; she will truly be missed.
