VETERAN Daniel R McNeley 1948 – 2021 Obituary September 29, 2021September 29, 20210 On Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021, Dan McNeley, loving father, brother and friend, passed away at the age of 73 surrounded by family. Dan was born in Klamath Falls to Francis and Marion McNeley on June 21, 1948. He graduated from Lakeview High School in 1966. Dan served in Vietnam as a Sergeant, Battery A, 1st Battalion, 30th Artillery from Sept. 20, 1967 until June 11, 1969; during his service he was awarded a Purple Heart as well as a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and a Bronze Star Medal. Over the years Dan was involved in many aspects of agriculture – from cattle ranching, to Ag Financing and in recent years raising and selling horses. Dan also enjoyed classic autos which he owned and restored several of throughout the years. Dan spent his free time with his girls growing up – following them to swim meets, leading 4-H groups or hauling to horse shows and rodeos, or sometimes just putting them to work. Later he enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, usually sending them home with some goodie or trinket. After retirement in 2015, Dan continued to enjoy working on his cars and other various projects. He was always up for some fun; attending rodeos, brandings, and enjoying time with family and friends. Dan was always headed somewhere for an event – and no matter where he was Lake County Round Up was one he rarely missed. He is preceded in death by both of his parents and survived by his daughters, Rachel (Kurt) Beaubien and Sarah McNeley; brother, Jim (Sue) McNeley; four grandchildren, and numerous friends whom became family during his retirement years. There will not be a service at this time; a celebration of life gathering will be held at a future date.
