Francis Jeannie Bennett 1936 – 2021

Francis Jeannie Bennett was born to Frances (Red) and Toni Wolverton on Dec. 31, 1936 in Burns. Jeannie attended all her school years in Burns.

She married Curtis Daugherty, July 17, 1952, to this marriage was born Anthony, Benny and Chris. Her second marriage was to Dene Bennett, Sept. 13, 1958, to this marriage Julie was born.

She lived most of her life in Burns, with exception of a short time at the coast in Beaver, Ore. and in Etowah, Tenn.

Her jobs included; working at Butson’s Market for Roy Finley; Richmaid; Edward Hines Lumber Mill; Burns Liquor Store for Del Clemens and her longest employment was Contract Postal Carrier for 45 years.

She enjoyed crocheting afghans, swimming, old country music and dancing especially with her father-in-law Frank Bennett. She loved giving gifts and cards to friends and family, and she treasured the cards sent to her.

She had a huge cup collection. Her entire kitchen ceiling was adorned with cups. Many of these cups were gifts from family and friends.

She loved her house at 536 N Grand, it broke her heart to sell it after living there 64 years.

Decorating and visiting graves was always something she looked forward to.

She worried, wondered and cared deeply about the people on her mail route. After retiring she missed her mail route families.

She would do anything for people, even sitting with them for their last moments before passing.

She loved her jewelry, the more bling, the better.

She was always dressed and ready to go, always matching head to toe, clothes and jewelry.

She always wore her signature pink lipstick, and loved the color purple.

More than anything she loved her family deeply, but especially her grandkids. 

Jeannie was preceded in death by her parents, Red and Toni Wolverton; husbands, Curtis Daugherty and Dene Bennett; brother, Kenneth Wolverton; sons, Anthony Daugherty and Chris Daugherty and step-son David Bennett.

She is survived by her sister, Jeanette (Dean) Gill; her children, Benny Daugherty, Julie (Terry) Benzen, daughter-in-law, Schelly Daugherty and step-daughter, Debbie Bennett; grandchildren, John Benzen,  Josh Daugherty, Justin Daugherty, Jordan Daugherty, Davey Bennett, Shawn Bennett, Lisa Bennett, Brenda Bennett, Keven Bennett and numerous great-grand children.

She will be missed by many other close friends and family members.
