Boyd Bishop 1936 – 2021 Obituary September 8, 2021September 8, 20210 Boyd Bishop of Hines, 84 passed away peacefully on Sept. 5, 2021, at St . Charles in Bend due to Pneumonia. Boyd was born Sept. 22, 1936 in Rudd, Iowa to Merit and Callie Bishop, joining his sister RosaLee. The family then moved to Tigard Ore., to start their Oregon farming adventure, where they grew potatoes, pigs, and cows. Boyd graduated from Tigard in 1955 and headed down to Corvallis for college at OSU, where he graduated from with a bachelor’s degree in dairy science and AG business. During his college years he married his first wife, Nedra and had four kids. While married they lived in Sutherlin, Ore. and Boyd worked for federal land bank as a loan officer and manager. In 1979 he married his current wife, Mary and welcomed her three kids. Mary and Boyd were dairy farmers in Cornelius, Ore. for four years before moving to Lookingglass, Oregon to dairy farm there. In 1991 they bought a dairy farm in Glendale Ore., they ran Jerseys and Holsteins for eight years before switching to black angus. They were the last grade A dairy in Douglas county. Boyd’s passion was cows and family, but mostly cows and grand daughter Cati, (according to his nurse in Bend)Boyd suffered a widow maker heart attack in 2013 which forced them to sell the farm and move back to Mary’s home town of Burns. While living in Burns, Boyd was still able to have his dream of running cows with his granddaughter Cati and her husband Lee Thumberg up until the end. Boyd will be missed by many and loved by all. He is survived by his wife, Mary; sister, RosaLee; all three daughters, Shelly, Janel, Mickey; and three stepchildren, Dave, Sherri, and Jodi. Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way. Boyd is proceeded in death by his parents, Merit and Callie; his only son, Brian; and his brother-in-law, Kenneth. There will be no funeral service per Boyd’s request.
