Alice Emily Cross 1932 – 2021 Obituary July 21, 2021July 21, 20210 Alice Emily Cross, 89, passed away on July 10, 2021 in Pendleton. Alice was born in Cleveland, Ohio and was number five of 11 children born to Charles and Dorothy Wills. In 1957, Alice married Lester Cross and they moved to Oregon, where Lester worked as a gyppo logger. Together they raised five children, and for many years, Alice raised her family while having to move often to follow the logging camps along the Oregon coast. Many times it seemed there were always extra kids as well! Once Alice moved to Burns, she worked for many years for Rick and Judy Hoyt, taking care of their children and being a part of their family. Alice later moved to Pendleton with her Granddaughter, Nicole Carver, and her husband, Kevin and their daughter, Olivia. Alice is survived by her sons, David Cross and his wife, Arlene of Burns, Bob Cross and his wife, Skye of Spokane, Wash., Neal and his wife, Kristy Cross of Redmond. She is also survived by her daughter, Mary Heimer and her husband, Jimmy of Burns; three sisters, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Dorothy Wills; her husband, Lester Cross; her daughter, Diana Mclean. Alice loved her church and church family both here in Burns and in Pendleton. There will be a Celebration of Life for Alice at the Bible Baptist Church in Hines on Saturday, Aug. 21, and 1:00 p.m.
