This week, our Artist Behind the Art is Harney County’s own Robin Holtby.

Holtby specializes in beadwork, and she’s been practicing the craft for almost three years. Beading runs in her family. Holtby said she remembers watching her cousins and Auntie Julie work with beads, and she simply wanted to join in. 

Since then, she has worked on honing her skills. She creates beautiful earrings and beaded embellishments around the brim of hats. Seed beads, cut beads, and a collection of sparkly eye catchers make up her work.

Holtby’s work is currently available at Spark Collaborative Studios, which is located at 341 N. Broadway Ave. in downtown Burns.
