Janet Rose Sherburn passed away July 25. Janet was born Nov. 16, 1936, in Rock Springs, Wyo., to Richard Rae and Winifred Jessop Rae.

Her family moved around the Northwest until she started working in the store in Denio, Nev., where she met her husband, Allen Sherburn. They were married Jan. 2, 1954, in Winnemucca, Nev. They lived on a ranch on Trout Creek where they raised sheep, and then cows.

They had four children, Dale Sherburn, Cherie Sherburn Corbari, Betty Sherburn Clark, and Lyle Sherburn.

She cooked for the work crews on ranches until they moved to Burns, where she worked for Safeway as produce manager. She then went into nursing and worked for the Burns nursing home and the hospital, and also provided private care for several people.

Her joys in life were yard work and cooking.

Janet is survived by two sisters, Carol Dawson and Annis Lester; four children; 10 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Allen; son-in-law, Archie Corbari; daughter-in-law, Teresa Sherburn; and brother, Richard Rae.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at LaFollette’s Chapel in Burns.
