Carol Jeanne Scribner 1948-2020 Obituary August 12, 2020August 12, 20200 Carol Jeanne Scribner passed away Aug. 2. Carol was born Dec. 30, 1948, in Tillamook to Eldon L. Steele and Marian V. Ottenbacher Steele. Her greatest enjoyments in life were fishing, hunting, and camping, especially with family and friends. She also loved to travel, and she and her husband, Elliott, visited a number of sites in many states. She moved to Hines because she loved the total opposite of the Oregon Coast. The first snowfall always thrilled her. Carol had a varied life. Her employment ranged from bartending to being executive secretary of the Maritime Museum in Astoria. She enjoyed us ordinary folks the most, but she could hold her own and hobnob with the not-so ordinary if needed. Carol was a very unique individual. At the time of her passing, Carol was married to the love of her life, Elliott Scribner, who survives her at the home they built together. She is also survived by two special people who held a place in her heart that no others could fill, her son, David E. Puderbaugh; and daughter, Brandi R. Puderbaugh; brother, Gary E. Steele; and stepchildren, Rick Scribner, Jay Scribner, Victoria Scott, and Kimberly Watkoski; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A celebration of life was held Aug. 8.
