The Burns City Council held a special meeting on Tuesday, June 30, to discuss the search for a city manager.

Prior to the open meeting, an executive session was held to discuss the position, according to ORS 192.660 (2) (A).

Once the open meeting was convened, the council voted to accept the resignation of Councilor Judy Erwin, and then appointed Erwin to serve as interim city manager until the position is filled.

Outgoing Interim City Manager Dauna Wensenk reported that the cemetery committee requested money from the Racine Fund to plant more trees in the cemetery in the fall. The total cost for the trees is $11,055, and the committee requested half that amount for a down payment. The council approved the down payment of $5,527.50 for the cemetery committee to purchase the trees from 4B Nursery.

Wensenk also told the council that the agreement with the airport managers expires July 1, but it also allows for a one-year extension. The managers have agreed to stay on for one more year, and the council voted to approve the extension.
